N6培養基被定義用來改善水稻花粉愈傷組織的形成、生長和分化。培養基中銨鹽的濃度對于愈傷組織的形成是至關重要的。NH4+離子濃度的最適范圍是7.0 mM(或3.5mM(NH4)2SO4))。高濃度的銨鹽會顯著抑制水稻花粉的生長和分化。KNO3和培養基中其他成分的濃度不會影響花粉的生長。
